Safety Tips for Online Classified Site Users

Online classified sites are gaining popularity among Net users and this is causing safety concern.

The free local classified site of eBay, Kijiji conducted a survey recently and found that almost one-third of the users are concerned about misleading and fraudulent ads appearing in these sites. Spamming of e-mail address, getting a computer virus and ads with adult content are some of the other concerns raised by the users.

The safety concerns are driving a chunk of Net users away from these sites. However, more than half of those participated in the survey opined that the responsibility of avoiding these unsafe elements lies with the user.

Social Networks Hampered by Security Concerns

The rising popularity of social networks like Twitter is posing enormous problems in the area of security to the Net users. The spurt of security risks in the past few weeks are proof for this.

A recent study released by AVG and CMO Council says that a majority of social network users do not perform the basic security measures regularly, some of which are:

1. Changing passwords (64% infrequently or never)
2. Adjusting privacy settings (57% infrequently or never)
3. Informing their social network administrator (90% infrequently or never)
