A good website doesn’t just give you a presence on the Internet, but also helps as a sales tool, recruitment page and sounding board for your customers. That said, does setting up a website give you an advantage over your larger competitors? The answer is, yes and no.
Unlike traditional brick-and-mortar marketing communication systems, your website can reach as many people as a large business’ website can. It can also accurately target your customers, simply because they themselves search for websites that they need. However, to make your website successful, you’ll need to make it useful, enjoyable and relevant to the user. Here are a few tips that could help you do so:
1. Keep your website true to your brand:
A website, to a visitor, is like your virtual shop-front or office. So, before beginning work on your website, devote some time to thinking about how you’d like your business to be seen. Then,
design your site with a specific colour palette in mind. If you don’t have one yet,
design a logo that’s visually true to what your business stands for. Make sure it’s displayed prominently (ideally, on top of your site) on every page. A logo gives your business a visual identity that’s more memorable than any mission statement.
Also, make sure that the
content – both visuals and text – mirrors your brand identity. Nothing confuses a visitor more than a website that looks like one thing, but sounds like something totally different.
